Profile
Dr. Friday Titus Emmanuel is a Reader in Medical Biochemistry and the Dean of the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba. With over two decades of experience in higher education, institutional leadership, and biomedical research, Dr. Emmanuel oversees academic standards, faculty development, and strategic health science initiatives across the university.
Prior to his appointment as Dean, he served as the Head of the Department of Medical Biochemistry (2020–2026), where he spearheaded curriculum developments for undergraduate and postgraduate medical programs, guided accreditation processes, and coordinated college research facilities. He holds Ph.D., M.Sc, B.Sc in Biochemistry (Environmental Toxicology).
Research Focus & Scholarly Contributions focus on environmental/biochemical toxicology, biochemical pharmacology, computational biology, and phytomedicine. His notable work includes investigating the toxicological impacts of industrial pollutants, evaluating the neurobehavioral and organ toxicity of popular substances, and bioprospecting plant bioactive compounds for antidiabetic, antioxidant, and therapeutic properties.
He has published extensively in reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Scopus, contributed to academic textbooks, and presented findings at research conferences worldwide. He actively serves as a reviewer for several international scientific journals.
Professional Affiliations include Member, Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), Member, Society of Basic and Clinical Toxicology Nigeria, Member, Member, International Society of Neurochemistry (ISN) , Biotechnology Society of Nigeria (BSN) ,Associate Member, Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NIST) ,Member, Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST).
Institutional Leadership & Service. Dr. Emmanuel serves on the University Senate and chairs key administrative bodies, including the Faculty Board, the Faculty Promotion Appraisal Panel, and the College Strategic Planning Committee. Additionally, he brings his strategic expertise to university-wide bodies, including the Security and Strategic Planning Committee and the 2026–2031 Strategic Plan Drafting Committee.
